Project Summary

 

AWL, through Equinox PDP TOF 1502, collaborated with the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) to define the programme requirements. They utilized their IT Project Manager, Development Team, and Technical Through Life Support (TTLS) Specialists, leveraging lessons from previous projects.

 

During the concept phase, AWL helped create the User Requirement Document (URD) and System Requirement Document (SRD) for the Dreadnought Transition Tool (DTT). The Development Team planned multiple DTT releases to meet SDA’s specific needs, testing each aspect and holding a Customer Test Event to achieve sign-off at Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and Full Operating Capability (FOC).

 

Throughout DTT development, AWL’s TTLS SMEs supported DSST and managed the DTT daily. They gathered evidence from various data repositories to ensure equipment was fit for purpose, using the DTT as a Single Point of Truth (SPOT).

 

AWL also ensured the DTT met Secure by Design standards using frameworks like NIST and OWasp and planned a Penetration Test to confirm the ORT’s suitability for MOD-managed environments.

The Dreadnought Transition Tool (DTT) offers significant benefits through its backend programming, being divided into functional modules tailored to client requirements (URD/SRD) and released in multiple packages.

 

By following the Secure by Design (SbD) process, baseline testing ensures rapid, right-first-time deployments, demonstrating value for money. Lessons from other Transition Projects (LFE) were incorporated during the concept phase and continue to benefit multiple TOFs daily.

 

The DTT serves as a Single Point of Truth (SPOT) for all equipment, providing assurance that each piece can be supported and maintained. It ensures accountability with a clear audit trail using email signatures for decision-making. Additionally, the DTT can generate dashboard reports showing the live status of equipment.
